Pension, Risk and Investment Conference 2016 with AFIR/ERM 31 May - 2 June, EICC

The Actuarial Approach for Financial Risks/Enterprise Risk Management (AFIR/ERM) section of the IAA will join the IFoA Pension, Risk and Investment Conference in May 2016 to discuss longevity risk, ALM and stochastic liability modelling, project risks, model validation, back testing and a range of investment related topics including corporate bonds and investment strategies. There will be sessions showcasing key research results from international university and industry researchers. The aim is to present the main ideas and implications rather than the detailed research background so that practitioners can gain insights into the ideas and potentials applications to their business. A session based on the Bob Alting von Geusau Memorial Prize paper from 2010-2011 will be presented which is titled "The Devil is in the Tails: Actuarial Mathematics and the Subprime Mortgage Crisis", by Catherine Donnelly and Paul Embrechts.  This Prize is for the best paper published in the ASTIN Bulletin on an AFIR/ERM topic.

There is a remarkable line up of risk management plenary speakers which includes:

  • ·         Steven Bell, Chief Economist, BMO Global Asset Management
  • ·         Ashok Gupta, Joint Deputy Vice Chair, BoE Procyclicality Working Party
