ABSTRACT

 

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on future mortality trends.
Beyond the direct mortality impact of the COVID-19 pandemic lies an uncertain future: Indirect pandemic ripple effects that will contribute to shaping mortality trends over the coming years. This session will bring together global data and insights to assess the current state of these ripple effects and explore how they are likely to affect future population and insured mortality trends in the short and medium term.

Dr. John Lefebre
Speaker

Chris Falkous is RGA's Senior Biometric Insights Actuary. His particular focus is on global mortality trends, and recent projects include developing data-driven insights on COVID-19, the mortality impacts of climate change, and multistate modelling of mortality incorporating expert judgement. Prior to joining RGA, Chris was a senior consultant and Scheme Actuary at Towers Watson. Chris has a BA in Mathematics from the University of Oxford and an MSc in Operations Research from The George Washington University. He is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in the UK.

Dr. John Lefebre is Vice President, Sr. Medical Director with RGA's Global Medical Team, responsible for providing input on various business initiatives, including product development, pricing, manual development, underwriting, claims review, and CMO training. Prior to becoming part of the Global Medical Team in 2017, Dr. Lefebre was RGA's Chief Regional Medical Officer for Europe, Mddle East, South Africa an India.
